The pins of the king blue mushroom mature into a deep blue hue, developing into large, stunning caps with meaty white stems once they reach full maturity.

Colours range anywhere from light grey to deep blue, depending on temperature. Colder temperatures are understood to make the blue more prominent.

The King Blue Mushroom has firm caps and tender stems and can hold its own taste-wise with most mushrooms. 

Giving a mild, earthy, and nutty taste, the King Blue also has a very pleasant subtle aniseed aftertaste.

Due to its firm texture, and the fact that they hold its shape and texture well when cooking, the caps of the king blue mushroom are excellent pan-fried and commonly prepared by sautéing with butter and garlic. Growing Tips

Use a sharp and clean knife, and make 2 incisions corner to corner of the window in the bag (making an X shape), exposing the substrate block. Water with a few squirts from a spray bottle. Place upright in a light, well-ventilated area with the opening facing daylight but not in direct sunlight. Your mushrooms will grow best at temperatures between 18ºC-22ºC.

Harvest the mushrooms when they are no longer doubling in size. To pick, reach underneath, grabbing the mushrooms at the base of the stem and twist firmly to release.
